🐕 Dog Day Out

Need an excuse to get outside and feel like a great human?

The Jacksonville Humane Society lets you take an adoptable dog out for the day—fresh air for them, serotonin for you, and potential love stories all around.

🍽️ RESTAURANTS

Trying new places this year? Enter: The Alphabet Restaurant Challenge.

Here’s how it works:
Start with the letter A.
Visit a restaurant you’ve never been to before.
Then move on through the alphabet—one letter (and meal) at a time.

And conveniently… the restaurant everyone’s buzzing about right now starts with A.

🍕 Angela’s Pizza

A literal hole-in-the-wall everyone’s waiting in line for.

Pizza by the slice or whole pie, NY-style, and people are lining up for up to 90 minutes. Adventurous behavior. Apparently well worth the wait!

💛 Increasing Happiness (No Vision Board Required)

Helping others in 2026 isn’t just nice—it’s science. Volunteering boosts dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin (aka the good stuff), builds purpose, and shifts focus from stress to gratitude.

Northeast Florida is home to more than 8,500+ nonprofits, so there’s no shortage of ways to help:

🌟 Nonprofit Highlights

  • St. Johns Riverkeeper — always active
  • Jax Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol — volunteers needed
  • Jacksonville Humane Society — kitten season = foster parents wanted
  • Feeding Northeast Florida — food sorting opportunities
  • ReadUSA — free book fairs for kids
  • MaliVai Washington Youth Center — fun, impactful volunteering

Although this is not a comprehensive list of all the amazing things this city has to offer, hopefully you're feeling inspired to keep the momentum going and have a year with a little less screen time!

Till next time.
